Anything airborne sits under DGCA rules
Drones must be registered on the Digital Sky platform and flown by certified remote pilots, kept out of restricted zones and airport surroundings, with higher-altitude or beyond-line-of-sight work needing specific approval. Drone shows also need police and district administration clearance, and tethered balloons or banner towing need civil aviation clearance.
Municipal advertisement byelaws still apply
Inflatables, sky balloons, projections and street installations count as advertisement display under city byelaws, so they need permission from the municipal corporation along with the property owner's consent. Unapproved displays can be removed and penalised, and traffic police object to anything that distracts drivers.
Weather and structural safety
Wind is the main risk for inflatables, balloons and rigged structures, and monsoon or high-wind days can cancel an outdoor activation outright. Structures in public areas need proper ballasting and load calculations, and projection work needs darkness plus a clean surface you have consent to use.
Planner's tip: Lock the site permission before you sign off the fabrication drawing, because these builds are made for one location and cannot be relocated cheaply.
